The Software Analyst is responsible for managing new and existing software applications used by the Cooperative. They will work with employees to understand their needs and specifications as well as software vendors to make sure applications and integration meets all specifications. Additionally, the software analyst will develop applications to aid in user efficiencies as well as provide hardware and software support to users. The Software Analyst will be responsible for installing, maintaining, tuning and upgrading SQL server databases within the organization.

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University in Computer Science or related field and at least 3 years' experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;  
  • Assist in the evaluation, purchase, implementation and support of hardware and software solutions, which will improve efficiencies and reliability for Jones-Onslow.
  • Assist in the evaluation and design of application software modifications as it relates to ever changing business processes.
  • Evaluate and implement upgrades of software applications, including but not limited to, document imaging, Sharepoint, SQL Server and other systems in use.
  • Analyze, modify and create software programs and scripts using a variety of programming languages to assist with IT and user efficiency.
  • Test, Plan and Implement software upgrades to enterprise software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Sharepoint and SQL Server is required.
  • Understand the business processes of the organization and how technology currently assists in those processes and look for other opportunities to assist in business efficiencies.
  • Install, maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot SQL Servers and write queries as needed.
  • Assist in special projects as required.
  • Document processes, procedures and applications as necessary
  • Attend and participate in calls, conferences, training, and webinars, as the position requires.
  • Report all software and hardware problems to appropriate staff and helpdesk to coordinate and assist appropriate personnel.
  • Interact with vendors, outsourcers and contractors.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of security procedures and processes as needed
  • Act in the capacity of a project leader and/or team leader which includes both internal corporate resources and external consulting resources
  • Assist in disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation
  • Provide 24 hour coverage of IT functions as needed
  • OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
  • Attend and participate in calls, conferences, training, and webinars, as the position requires.
  • Identify end-user training needs
  • Perform other duties that from time to time may be assigned by management, and to carry out the assigned duties in a courteous, dependable and confidential manner with an attitude commensurate with being an Informational Systems professional. Interaction with all levels of employees and technical knowledge is required and will be performed in a patient, courteous, and professional manner.
  • A working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, basic networking, Linux and some programming experience is preferred.
  • Attendance is a requirement of this position.

  • Vendor site visits
  • WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Normal working conditions inside office building with heat and air conditioning. Regular office hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, except company observed holidays. Position is in Jacksonville, North Carolina.       Should live near or within the community. Being in an IT position, employee is subject to being called for support reasons at any time and work after hours for system upgrades.
